Cancelling your pet insurance policy

You can cancel your pet insurance policy at any time. But if you would like to discuss ways to manage or change your cover, you can call or email us. Please note that changes to your policy can result in less cover.

Pet insurance can protect your dog or cat when they need it most. Cancelling your policy means a claim cannot be made.

Refunds

If you cancel your policy in the first 14 days, you will get a full refund for any payments made. This is provided you haven’t submitted a claim.

If you do not cancel during the 14 day period, your policy will continue as normal.

After 14 days, customers who pay annually will get some money back if they cancel their policy and have not made a claim.

This amount will be for the unused period of your policy. For example, if your policy cost £365 and you cancel it after 300 days, you will receive £65 for the 65 days of unused cover.

What if I've made a claim?

If you make a claim during the first 14 days of the policy start date, this will be taken as accepting the policy cover and no refund will be given.

If you pay monthly and a claim has been settled, you must pay any remaining instalments for the same period of insurance. Or we will deduct outstanding instalments from your claim payment.

If you pay annually and a claim has been settled, you will not receive any refund if the policy is cancelled during the same period of insurance.

What if I don't want to renew my pet insurance?

We will typically send you a renewal invitation at least 3 weeks before your renewal date. The invitation will state whether your policy is set for automatic renewal.

If you do not want to renew and your policy is not set to renew automatically, you do not need to do anything further.

If you pay via direct debit, you will need to contact us at least 4 days before your renewal date to cancel your automatic renewal.

Deceased pets

If your pet dies or is reported as lost or stolen, the remaining payments for the full policy year will not be charged. To notify us of your pet’s death, you can call or email us.

Co-op Members

For Co-op Members, cancelling your policy does not mean losing your Co-op Membership. You will stay a Co-op Member unless you decide to cancel your Membership.

Contact details to cancel your policy

If you still want to cancel, you can call or email us. When calling, you will need to provide:

  • your policy number
  • your name and address
  • your date of birth

Only the policyholder can cancel the policy. If you want someone else to do it, you must contact us to give them permission.
